About Our Sermons
At Flint River Bible Fellowship we believe that God is most honored, and His people most edified, through what is called "expositional preaching." Expositional preaching is preaching in which the preacher chooses a particular passage from Scripture as his starting point. The preacher works through the given passage, explaining its content and then applying it to the Christian life.
By preaching in this way, we believe that the integrity of the original authors' intentions is preserved, and we are best able to come to an understanding of what the Bible is saying. The goal of linking a sermon to a particular biblical text is to encourage preaching that is focused, coherent and God-centered.
Typically (although not always) we will work straight through a book of the Bible. By doing this, we allow Scripture to "set the agenda" for our corporate worship, working through whatever the Bible presents even when it might seem difficult, confusing or counter-cultural.
